The Program
My2ndMountain is a cohort-based experience for men approaching or entering retirement who want to be intentional about what comes next.
The program combines thoughtful discussion, shared experience and relationships with other men navigating many of the same questions.
A typical cohort includes 10-15 men who move through the year together.
Year 1: Built around 3 themes:
Retirement
Changing identity and self-worth
What do I do with my time?
The order, disorder, and reorder of retirement
Who should I talk to before retiring?
Finding relevance and meaning in retirement
Practical Preparation
Partner and family relationships
Goal Setting
Financial preparation and perspectives
Growing in What Matters
Exploring questions like:
What am I doing with my mind?
What grounds me and gives me purpose?
How do I stay relevant with technology?
Additional special sessions may include guest speakers and topics of particular interest to the cohort.
How the cohort meets
Meetings begin with casual social time, snacks and a drink.
About 90 minutes of discussion and session content follows.
Brief homework helps members come prepared to engage.
Dinner afterward is optional, well attended, and handled individually.
Attendance matters — the more members participate, the richer the conversation.
Year 2: Continuing the journey
For those wanting to continue after Year 1, a second year provides an opportunity to go deeper.
The focus shifts from exploring retirement to a more personal question: How can I become a better version of myself?
Year 2 includes individual reflection, one-to-one coaching, and development of a personal plan — with greater emphasis on being, not simply doing.
